Summer newborn session at home
Updated: Feb 3
This session was a while ago, in the Summer of 2019 in Hungary where I spend the Summer with our kids every year. It's always very special to work in the country where I was born and happily fulfil any requests for a family session.
This baby photography session was a gift from the new mum's sister and it was such a perfect gift. Some new parents might not feel comfortable to let a photographer in their home straight after they had a baby. They might be tired, their home might not be as tidy as it used to be, their baby doesn't have a routine yet and they are new to the whole parenting thing. I know these feelings very well, I've been there.
But I also know that those first moments, days and weeks will fly by super quick. The days might be long but the years are short. Your tiny little baby will start walking in a blink of an eye and soon he will be such a big kid that he won't stay still for a second, let alone sit on your lap sand let them to be hugged.
This mum hesitated too about the newborn session but at the end she decided to give it a go. My morning with her family was slow and just beautiful. She wrote the following in her review:
"I’ve never thought that a foto session could be so pleasant and natural."
We started in the nursery, we did a family photos in their living room and we even went out to their lovely garden. We had a few breaks in between which is completely fine. It gives the baby a little time to calm and us the opportunity to have a little chat about parenthood, babies and feeds.
I hope you will enjoy going through the images of this gorgeous family.
PS: At the end of their gallery I gathered some thoughts about how my newborn in-home sessions look like. Should you have questions, please drop me a message.
About my approach to my newborn sessions at home
My baby sessions last between 1-2 hours depending on the mood of the baby. I don't rush the session and we follow the baby's lead. If she needs a break, we take a break. If she is ready, we jump in.
During the session I gently guide the parents what to do but as soon as they are comfortable in the situation, I step back and let their family moments unfold on their own.
I do take classic posed, "look at my camera and smile" images but they are not my priority! I aim to capture the connection between the parents and their newborn baby. Those sweet kisses, those tiny fingers, those gently touches.
I LOVE black and white images - they make the moment timeless. So you will receive not only colourful but b&w photos too.
I offer baby sessions in my studio in Hemel Hemsptead but I'm more than happy to bring my equipment to your home at no extra cost for you. So I would take professional baby photos at your home for your convenience: a combination of baby studio images and lifestyle photos at your home.
For more information about my newborn sessions in your home please message me to receive my newborn guide.
My baby photography session cost £199.
